1. Scope and agreement
These Terms of Use govern Animeet and its official website (the “Service”), provided by RANRAN Solutions (the “Operator”). Please read and agree to these Terms before using the Service.
The handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. These Terms do not limit rights granted to users under applicable law.
2. The Service
Animeet is an anime tracking service offering discovery and title information, My List, viewing records, ratings and notes, reminders, recommendations, and, after sign-in, cloud storage, synchronization, and community features. It does not stream anime videos.
Basic tracking features are available without registration. An account is required for posting, synchronization, friends, and messaging. Available features may vary by device, operating system, or network. Users are responsible for their connectivity and device costs.
3. Who may use Animeet
The Service is for people aged 13 and over. Children under 13 may not use it. Users under 18 must obtain consent from a parent or other legal guardian.
4. Account management
Register using an email address or external account you are authorized to use, and protect your credentials. Lending, transferring, selling, or buying accounts and impersonating others are prohibited. Contact the Operator promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.
External authentication services are also subject to their own terms. We do not guarantee the merging of different sign-in methods or recovery of a lost external account.
5. Records, reminders, and visibility
Local records may be lost because of device failure, uninstalling the app, or operating-system actions. Cloud synchronization may fail because of network problems or other issues. Keep your own copies of important records.
Notification delivery depends on device permissions, power-saving settings, time settings, and other factors. Delivery at a specified time is not guaranteed. Consult official sources when necessary for title information and broadcast schedules.
Public ratings, reviews, and thread posts are visible even to people who are not signed in. Enabling list sharing with friends also shares the ratings and thoughts in those lists. See Section 3 of the Privacy Policy.
6. Your content and permission to use it
You must have the rights or permissions needed to post your content. Copyright remains with you or the original rights holder.
You grant the Operator a free, non-exclusive license to use your posts only as needed to provide the Service, store and back up content, display and distribute it within your chosen visibility settings, adjust its format for display, and respond to reports. This includes processing by contractors necessary for those purposes. It does not authorize using messages or private records in advertising.
Use ends after deletion, except as necessary for deletion processing or legally required retention. Separate permission will be obtained when necessary for uses such as advertising or promotion outside the Service.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Illegal conduct, encouraging crime, or fraudulent activity.
- Infringing copyright, trademarks, privacy, image rights, or other rights; unauthorized reposting or directing people to illegal streams.
- Threats, defamation, discrimination, harassment, stalking, or persistent unwanted contact.
- Child sexual exploitation or abuse content, sexual solicitation, obscene content, or excessively graphic violence.
- Disclosing personal information without consent, impersonation, or attempting to obtain credentials.
- Spam, scams, unauthorized advertising or solicitation, or solicitation primarily for dating.
- Unauthorized access, harmful software, excessive load, or evading access restrictions or suspensions.
- Manipulating ratings or reports, false reports, or disrupting the Operator or other users.
Respect different opinions about anime. Mark posts containing major plot developments as spoilers in your text out of consideration for people who have not watched them.
8. Reporting, blocking, and restrictions
You can report inappropriate users, reviews, and thread posts in the app and use the block feature. Contact support about content that cannot be reported in the app, messaging problems, or rights infringements.
When there are reasonable grounds to suspect a violation or infringement, a need to protect users, or a legal obligation or lawful request from a public authority, the Operator may investigate, hide or delete posts, restrict features, suspend use, or delete accounts to a necessary and proportionate extent.
Urgent measures may be taken without prior notice. Contact support to contest a measure or point out an error; we will review the circumstances. We do not promise continuous monitoring of all posts or messages, or that every report will result in the requested action.
9. Intellectual property and external information
Rights in the Service’s software, design, logos, and similar materials belong to the Operator or legitimate rights holders. Anime images, titles, and descriptions belong to their respective rights holders. Using the Service does not grant rights to reproduce or redistribute them. This does not restrict uses permitted by law, such as lawful quotation.
Some title information comes from external sources. External sites’ terms apply after you visit them. If you suspect an infringement, contact support with information identifying the material and the relevant rights.
10. Changes, interruptions, and discontinuation
The Operator may interrupt the Service to the extent necessary for maintenance, outages, security measures, disasters, external service interruptions, or other unavoidable circumstances.
Significant feature changes or discontinuation will be announced in the app or on the official website with reasonable advance notice, except where advance notice is difficult, such as urgent safety measures. We will also explain how records will be handled and which procedures are available when the Service ends.
11. Responsibility
The Operator does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of information, suitability for a particular purpose, delivery of notifications, or uninterrupted, error-free service. These statements do not constitute a blanket exemption from legal responsibility.
If users suffer damage due to the Operator’s breach of contract or tort, the Operator is responsible in accordance with Japan’s Civil Code, Consumer Contract Act, and other applicable law. We do not impose a blanket exclusion of liability or a uniform compensation cap, including for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
Disputes between users or with external services should generally be resolved between the parties. The Operator responds to reports under these Terms. This does not affect legal duties where the Operator bears responsibility.
12. Ending use and deleting your account
You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete an account, go to Settings → Delete account. If you cannot use the app, follow the support instructions. Uninstalling or signing out alone does not delete a cloud account.
Records cannot be recovered after account deletion. Deleting message threads you participate in also affects the other participants. See Section 6 of the Privacy Policy for deletion scope, possible ongoing retention, and external service deletion periods.
13. Changes to these Terms
The Operator may amend these Terms under Article 548-4 of Japan’s Civil Code when the change benefits users generally, or when it is consistent with the purpose of these Terms and reasonable in light of its necessity, substance, and other circumstances.
The fact of amendment, amended terms, and effective date will be announced on the official website or similar channels before taking effect. If the requirements for this amendment procedure are not met, any necessary consent will be obtained separately.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Japanese law without excluding protections under mandatory laws applicable to users. Parties will discuss disputes in good faith. Unresolved disputes may be brought before a court with jurisdiction under applicable law.
If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
15. Contact
Upon request, we will promptly disclose the personal information handling business operator’s name or legal name, address, and, for a corporation, representative’s name. Use the subject “Animeet operator information request”.
